  • The MYPI Mentorship Program, launched in 2020, provides ongoing support to Muslim youth in Colorado to nurture their spiritual growth, mental wellbeing, and educational, personal, and professional success. Through meaningful mentor-mentee relationships, youth are guided and empowered with the Islamic identity, values, and principles needed to achieve their goals and make a positive impact on their communities, environment, and relationships.

  • Muslim youth in America often navigate spaces that do not reflect or support their beliefs and values. As they move through school, work, and everyday life, it is essential that they have positive Muslim influences who can support their personal growth and help them thrive in accordance with Islamic principles.

  • By being matched with a Muslim mentor, youth receive guidance from a successful, professional role model who understands the experience of being Muslim in America. MYPI mentors are trained, passionate individuals who are committed to giving back to the community and offering the kind of support many of them did not have growing up. Through this relationship, mentees are supported in setting and achieving personal, academic, spiritual, professional, and wellness goals.

FAQ

  • A: No, the Mentorship Program is completely FREE thanks to our generous grantors and our amazing Mentors who are volunteering their time for YOU!

  • A: Each year's welcome package will vary, but in the past it has included a MYPI t-shirt, custom pen, notebook, water bottle, stickers, etc.

  • A: Yes they are mandatory, but don't worry, they are very short and simple. These reports help us make sure the program is meeting its goals, that our mentors and mentees are being taken care of, and to provide reporting stats for our grantors and sponsors who help fund the program keeping it FREE for everyone.

  • Yes, mashaAllah, our incredible mentors join our program for the sake of Allah, as a way to give back to the community by supporting and empowering youth to reach their full potential.

  • A: Parents of mentees under 18 years old must give permission for their child to be in the program. We encourage the mentors and parents to have open communication with each other about their expectations and goals for the mentorship, without being overbearing.

  • Mentees must reside in Colorado.

Mentors may be from elsewhere in the USA, but the chances of a virtual mentorship are lower.

MYPI is based in the Denver metro area, so participants from further regions in Colorado also have a lower chance of getting matched.

  • The application deadline is May 31st, if you miss that window or find out about our program mid-round, you can fill out the interest form and get on the waitlist for any potential openings.
